Xanax (alprazolam) is a prescription medicine taken by patients suffering from any of the anxiety disorders. Your doctor can also prescribe this drug to treat and prevent panic attacks, as well as to treat premenstrual syndrome, depression and fear of open spaces. The usual dosing schedule is two to four tablets of Xanax a day – but you may be recommended a different schedule that you must observe. If you have been prescribed the liquid form you are supposed to take it with the help of a special measuring spoon to make sure your dose is precise and you do not take more or less than recommended. If you are using the concentrated liquid form it is supposed to be added to some foods with the help of a special dropper and then taken immediately.
